Facelift Surgery

The facelift is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. A facelift can remove many, although probably not all, wrinkles. Excess skin and fat can also be eliminated or reshaped, leaving a more youthful, rested appearance. People between the ages of 40 and 70 usually benefit most from facelift surgery; however, depending on genetic and environmental conditions, some may consider facelift procedures at younger or more mature ages.

Dr. Krugman has been performing facelifts for more than 20 years. Today, facelift procedures are much more complex than they were 30 years ago, and their results are generally more predictable and more enduring.

In addition to more natural looking results, endoscopic facelift surgical procedures require only small, discreet incisions. This benefit has been particularly important with regard to brow and eyelid lift procedures. The old brow lift procedure involved a large incision behind or in front of the hairline. The endoscopic brow lift requires a few small incisions behind the hairline. Often, Dr. Krugman performs these endo-brow procedures in conjunction with other facial surgery, with very pleasing, natural appearing results.

Neck Lift

Dr. Krugman utilizes the endoscope for many neck lifts with minimal incisions. He will often use tumescent liposuction using a microcannula syringe, rather than a vacuum, to remove fat deposits around the jaw line and/or the neck area. Excess skin is then trimmed away, and the remaining skin is tightened and gently held in place with a neck sling. If the patient has a particularly small chin, Dr. Krugman may recommend a chin implant in order to create a naturally contoured effect.

Rhinoplasty

For those who are not satisfied with the size or shape of their nose, rhinoplasty, or reconstructive nose surgery, is a tried and true solution. Through rhinoplasty, Dr. Krugman can make a nose smaller or larger, and he can adjust the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostril. Rhinoplasty can also correct nose injuries and breathing abnormalities related to problems with the internal structures of the nose.

Rhinoplasty has long been of interest to Dr. Krugman. It seemed a natural fit with his head and neck background before beginning plastic surgery training.

Dr. Krugman studied under Irving Goldman, a world-renowned figure in rhinoplasty.

Lip Augmentation with Alloderm®

Of all the soft tissue augmentation materials on the market today, Dr. Krugman recommends and uses Alloderm® for lip enhancement and deep facial furrows. This is because Alloderm® is actual human tissue donated to United States tissue banks. In a process approved by the FDA, the donated tissue is stripped of all cells so that only the collagen remains. Since Alloderm® is human tissue, it actually integrates with the body's own tissue for natural, long-lasting results. In fact, unlike fat and many synthetic tissue enhancers, which in most cases last only months at a time, Alloderm® patients report 70 to 80 percent remaining after two years.

Dr. Krugman has been using Alloderm® for lip enhancement and to fill facial furrows (such as nasolabial creases) for many years, and he remains enthusiastic about the results. The procedure involves inserting Alloderm® through tiny incisions in the corners of the mouth or near furrow lines. The Alloderm® implant becomes integrated with the natural tissues, and healing time is minimal. And, since Alloderm® is human tissue, it will not cause an allergic reaction.

BOTOX®

BOTOX® has become an extremely popular treatment for wrinkles and lines on the forehead, between and around the eyes, and around the mouth. BOTOX® works by temporarily paralyzing the small muscles that cause creases to form, smoothing the skin and producing a more youthful appearance.

BOTOX® treatment is extremely effective and usually takes about ten minutes to perform, with full results visible within a few days. The effects of BOTOX® normally last three to four months. BOTOX® is injected directly into the muscle tissue with a fine needle. Most people do not consider the treatment painful.

Overall, BOTOX injections are a generally safe and relatively painless way of reducing facial wrinkles and lines while creating a smooth, younger-looking appearance.

Thermage® Skin Tightening

Dr. Krugman is one of the pioneer physicians in Thermage® skin tightening treatments. He teaches techniques of the procedure to other physicians at the Thermage Company’s seminars.

Thermage® has been featured in news broadcasts, as well as on the Oprah Winfrey Show. One of the most exciting features of this skin tightening procedure is that there are no incisions, therefore, there is no down time for healing.
